Apache Iceberg has emerged as the most widely accepted open table format for designing lakehouse platforms. Developers are experimenting at a rapid pace with Iceberg, it being an open source project.

This session would introduce Iceberg from grounds-up, starting from Hive and Hive metastores and explaining the reason behind the success of Iceberg. This session would also introduce pyiceberg as an open source alternative to clustered query engine for Iceberg.

The audience would come out of the session with enough knowledge about Lakehouses, Apache Iceberg and pyiceberg, to get started.
