Joey has worked at OpenAI for the past year. Before that, they worked at worked at Stripe for 6 years as well as other e-commerce and infrastructure companies (Shopify, Cockroach Labs). They have spent most of their years wrangling complex and large-scale data pipelines spanning both streaming and batch contexts as both a user and platform owner, including with Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Apache Spark, Apache Pinot, alongside other in-house data systems.

Outside of work, Joey spends time enjoying the outdoors along the beautiful (but cold) Canadian coast and tinkering with any sorts of maker projects (electronic, wood, machined, etc.)
